Interesting cases at our Bridgnorth Hospital…

Bridgnorth has had an exciting few weeks in terms of interesting cases.  Thanks to our new keyhole surgery equipment we have been able to diagnose a lung tumour which was successfully removed and also find an unusual fungus growing in a dogs nose called Aspergillus.  This was then partly treated using the keyhole surgery equipment to flush out the sinuses of the head with antifungal solution.

In a rare coincidence, within the Severn Edge group, we have diagnosed two parathyroid masses in one week.  The Parathyroid gland (as the name suggests) sits next to your thyroid gland and controls calcium levels in the blood.  Tumours affect this control and can be life threatening.  They are very unusual though and very tricky to operate on.  Fortunately the surgery has been successful in both cases.
