REMINDER ON MICROCHIPPING LAWS IN ENGLAND

As many of you may already be aware, new microchipping laws in England will be coming in to effect on Wednesday 6th April stipulating that all dogs must be microchipped. Defra says that the law applies to all dogs, including working animals, as research suggests most unchipped dogs are currently in rural areas. Failures to comply can result in penalties of up to £500. We recommend you get all working dogs chipped which we are offering at £9.50 inc. VAT until 30th April 2016. This can be done during your TB test, by any of the farm vets if you ring to book it in or at any of the surgeries with an appointment. Our chips are guaranteed for life by the manufacture, all are ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) FDXB compliant and conform to the ISO 11784 and 11785 standards – these standards are required for the Pet Travel Scheme.

Our Pet ID microchips are coated with Parylene C to allow bonding with the subcutaneous tissues and help prevent migration, however not all makes of microchip have this sort of coating.

At Severn Edge our microchips are registered with Petlog, their call centre is open 24 hours a day every day of the year and it is based in the UK which means it is always easy to contact them in the event of a lost dog.
